TRACS File Viewer Screen Overview for Error Message Tracking
Affordable Housing side menu: TRACS > TRACS File Viewer > In Box tab
The TRACS File Viewer screen is a tool for tracking your progress as you correct TRACS file errors. Error messages appear in a format that is easy to read. You do not need a text editor to read a message and then open the MAT User's Guide to locate the error description, action required, and recommended solution.
The TRACS File Viewer screen is a tracking tool. It is not an error-correcting tool. The TRACS File Viewer does not integrate into your data and there is no drill-down to the data.
When you open the TRACS File Viewer screen, the In Box tab appears. The Property field at the top of the record shows the code of the property selected on the Community Manager Dashboard screen. The TRACS messages for that property appear in the In Box tab, with the most recent item appearing first.
When you select a message on the In Box tab, the details of that message appear in the TRACS Errors section at the bottom of the screen. On the left, the Error Tree shows the project name, contract, units, and residents included in the message. The TRACS error codes from the MAT User's Guide that apply to each resident appear under each resident's name. On the right, the project name and number appear under the Project Info heading.
The following graphic shows the TRACS File Viewer screen. In this example, the first error message is selected.

When you select a TRACS error code from the Error Tree, detailed information about that error appears in the TRACS Errors section.
The following example shows the In Box tab on the TRACS File Viewer screen with a TRACS error message selected.

The Project Info section shows the project name, number, contract, unit, and the resident's name and Social Security number.
The Error Info shows the following information:
The Effective Date field shows the effective date of the certification that applies to the error.
The Brief Desc field contains a short description of the error.
The Detailed Desc field shows a detailed description of the errors from the Mat User's Guide.
A Resolved check box also appears in the Error Info section. After you have resolved an error, you can click the Edit button at the bottom of the TRACS File Viewer screen, select the Resolved check box, and save the record to document the issue as resolved. The code of the unit, tenant, and error code changes. An asterisk (*) appears beside the error code.
Clicking Save saves the changes to the TRACS message. Your modifications are appended to the end of the raw message file that is stored on your server. Voyager uses this section to track the resolved errors in the file. If you open the raw file, do not make changes to this section of the file.
The Recommended Solution section shows the actions needed to resolve the error:
The Action field describes the action needed to resolve the issue, if an action is needed.
The Agency Recommended Solution field provides a detailed description of the optional or required action that will correct the error according to the MAT User's Guide.
When a message is selected, two filters appear at the bottom of the TRACS File Viewer screen. You can use these filters to select from the Error Tree section the types of errors that you want to review:
Use the Error Status Filter to select errors by resolved status. You can review all messages or only Resolved or Unresolved messages.
Use the Error Severity Filter to select errors by TRACS error type. You can review all messages or only Informational, Discrepancy, or Fatal messages.
Voyager stores TRACS messages on your server. You may need a local copy of a message to be able to email the file or for or other purposes. If you have the yTransfer utility installed on your local workstation and a message is selected in the TRACS File Viewer screen, a yTransfer button appears. You can click yTransfer to copy a message to your workstation. For information about installing the yTransfer utility, see “Installing the File Transfer Utility” in the Voyager Affordable Housing Setup Guide.
